Why a site about Mosquito Products? |
When you ask the common person which insect or animal posses the greatest threat to humans, and kill the most yearly, you will receive answers like, Sharks, Killer-Bees, or even snakes. The answer is mosquitoes. They kill a greater number of humans each year compared to any other insect or animal. With the banning of effective, cheap pesticides like DDT the number of deaths world-wide have not declined. Many areas of the world have children not making it into adolescence. While many of us wonder if the mosquito sprays and mosquito repellents will cause cancer later in life, 70+, many parents wonder if they will see if their children will live long enough to loss their baby-teeth. This dangerous insect, the mosquito, exists in our backyards.
Since these little monsters live in my backyard, I want to change that. I want a mosquito free yard, and I'll share with you my results in trying different mosquito products. |

Although many mosquito products work well, preventive mosquito control works best.
Mosquito need a breeding ground to exist. Even if you released a handful of mosquitoes into a mosquito free area, if they can not reproduce, the area will become mosquito free again. How do you prevent mosquito breeding easily?
|
Mosquito Control Tip #1: Remove stagnant water
The amount of water needed for breeding is very little. Some mosquitoes can breed in as little as a bottle cap filled with water. Walk around your yard and find over turned trash lids, and water filled flower pots. Remove this stagnant water. |
Mosquito Control Tip #2: Treat un-removable stagnant water.
If water can not be dumped, drained, or removed, then treat the water with biological controls. Some of these mosquito biological controls include, but are not limited to: mosquito fish, bacteria, and mosquito larva predators.
|
Mosquito Control Tip #3: Turn stagnant water into moving water.
If you have a pond, filter it. If you have fountain, turn it on. It appears that moving water isn't ideal for mosquitoes, it interferes with their breeding process, and can reduce the overall number of adult mosquitoes. |
